VISION

We envision churches and local organizations working together to help their communities flourish by demonstrating the love of Christ to the world.

We believe followers of Jesus can strengthen their witness by:

  • encouraging one another,
  • and sharing the Gospel together in neighborhood and community events

while still respecting denominational distinctions and convictions.

Light of the World Foundation exists not only to communicate biblical principles, but also to encourage practical expressions of Christian unity, compassion, outreach, and community transformation.

We believe local communities are strengthened when churches, ministries, businesses, organizations, and caring individuals work together through prayer, service, and Gospel-centered outreach.

A Local Expression of the Vision

We Care Bowie is one local expression of the Light of the World Foundation vision in action.

By encouraging churches, ministries, community organizations, businesses, and local leaders to work together through prayer, compassion, service, and outreach, We Care Bowie seeks to demonstrate the love of Christ in visible and practical ways throughout the Bowie community.

Through prayer walks, community partnerships, outreach ministries, discipleship resources, and collaborative caring ministries, We Care Bowie helps connect people with churches, ministries, support groups, neighborhood relationships, and opportunities to grow together in faith.

Examples include:

  • prayer walks,
  • food assistance,
  • clothing assistance
  • family support ministries,
  • neighborhood and community outreach events,
  • recovery ministries,
  • youth and senior support,
  • discipleship resources,
  • and community partnerships.

We Care Bowie exists in alignment with and support of the broader Light of the World Foundation mission and vision.

Multiplying the Vision

We believe every city and community and neighborhood needs visible expressions of Christian love, unity, prayer, compassion, and Gospel witness.

Our long-term vision is to encourage and support the development of many more community-based “Prayer • Care • Share” initiatives in cities and towns across America and beyond.

Why this Mission Matters 

Across America and much of Europe, church attendance has been declining for many years.

At the same time, many people increasingly see Christianity as:

  • divided,
  • judgmental,
  • political,
  • hypocritical,
  • or disconnected from everyday struggles.

As a result, many people are no longer hearing — or experiencing — the love and message of Jesus Christ in meaningful ways.

Yet many people are still spiritually searching for:

  • hope,
  • purpose,
  • forgiveness,
  • truth,
  • community,
  • and love.

We believe people are often more open to the Gospel when they first experience authentic compassion, humility, unity, and care right in their own neighborhood and community.

People may not care how much we know until they know how much we care.

Encouraging Christian Unity

We believe Christian unity is one of the strongest witnesses to the world.

Our desire is not to erase theological distinctions between churches, but to encourage:

  • mutual respect,
  • prayer,
  • friendship,
  • cooperation,
  • and Christ-centered love among believers.

Scripture says:

“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
— Ephesians 4:3

When believers pray together, serve together, and love one another, the world sees a living picture of Christ.

A Vision for the Future

We envision:

  • pastors and church leaders praying together regularly,
  • ministries collaborating,
  • believers living missionally in their neighborhoods and their communities
  • neighborhoods and communities being transformed through compassion,
  • and more people coming to know and follow Jesus Christ.

We also hope to expand the use of:

  • testimonies,
  • discipleship resources,
  • digital outreach,
  • community partnerships,
  • ministry storytelling,
  • and The Way messages,
    • Know the Way, Follow the Way, Show the Way, and Remain on the Way

Key Scriptures

Matthew 5:14–16 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Mark 12:30–31 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.

Matthew 28:19–20 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 17:20–23  I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. 

Ephesians 4:3–6 Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, there is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

2 Corinthians 5:18–20 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.

Philippians 2:3-5 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
